Yes, I sometimes have trouble deciding whether a photo should rightly be "classified" as a portrait or a figure study.
Given the mood of the U.S., where the smoking of tobacco and baring of (female) nipples or bottoms in thongs must be relegated to paid television (or put on "moderate," if one has a Flickr account), I'm thinking perhaps a "portrait" is what might be available in the "safe" zones of conservatism.
